It's that time of year again - The 2017 AHIP Institute and Expo kicks off June 7, and we're looking forward to an exciting conference. For all the first-timers making the trip down to Texas, you're in luck - Austin is an incredible city filled with food, fun, and plenty of history. To help you navigate the city, our team has put together a guide to this beautiful city for you and your collegues to use when the conference concludes each day. Here are our picks for the top five must-sees across Austin:
1.) The Texas Capitol
For all you political buffs, the Capitol is a great place to go. This gorgeous government building is rich with history and has plenty of stories to tell. If you're willing to hear them, they offer free walk-up tours on a regular basis. If a Capitol visit doesn't sound appealing, you can simply apprecaite it's beauty from afar on the Austin skyline.
2.) South Congress Avenue (SoCo)
Austin has plenty of streets that could be dubbed the "Main Street" (Rainey Street or 6th Street were close contenders) but South Congress is our pick for you to check out. The street is lined with beautiful galleries, boutiques and plenty of live music. Grab a bite or see a show - just don't miss the conference!
3.) Explore Zilker Park
If you're looking to get away from the city for a while, Zilker Park is the perfect desination. There are plenty of walking paths and biking trails where you can take in the gorgeous nature surrounding Austin. Or, if it's too hot for a stroll in the park, the Barton Springs natural pool is a great place to beat the heat and relax outdoors away from the downtown hustle and bustle.
4.) Anything Involving FOOD!
Austin is FILLED with some of the best food from around the country (and around the world) no matter where you look.
•The Tourist Route: Torchy's Tacos
•The BBQ Route: La Barbeque or Franklin
•The Food Truck Route: ANYTHING on South 1st, Rainey Street or 6th Street
•The "Foodie" Route: Barley Swine or Uchi
5.) The Advent Booth at AHIP 2017
Before you tackle all that Austin has to offer, swing by the Advent booth and meet us in person!
Since we're traveling all the way from Nashville to Austin, we figured there is no better way to celebrate the two music cities than a musical giveaway. That's why we're bringing an unbelievable guitar signed by Tim McGraw to give away to a lucky conference attendee.
There are two ways to enter the giveaway: You can book some time to meet with us at the expo, or simply swing by booth #924 and see us. We hope to see you there!
